I’ve been having fun with Instagram.
(@joshpais)
Well, it started out as fun.
But one day I noticed a strange yearning.
Or was it a craving to check it?
It actually started to feel a little, well… addictive.
Fun…? Addictive…?
Here’s what happened…
This morning I woke up feeling well-rested and excited for the upcoming year. I thought about what I can bring to this time we’re in.
I had some coffee with Marie, played with Kuma, then… yup – checked my Instagram.
Can’t say it was like picking up the crack pipe – only cause I never smoked crack…
But I quickly noticed a sense of disconnection with ME.
I noticed a loss of well-being. Not how I want to start the new year.
Gratefully, I went back to a very simple exercise included in the Committed Impulse arsenal. An exercise that within 30 seconds brought me back to me.
I learned this from the brilliant acting teacher, Clyde Vinson, who taught me so much about creating from exactly where I am.
Ready to give it a try?
Come on – it’ll take ya 30 seconds. And – it’s a game-changer.
The exercise is called:
I see…
I wonder…
I feel…
Yes, it’s very complicated – but I think you can get it.
I SEE… Notice something in your immediate environment
I WONDER… Whatever your mind comes up with about
what you see.
I FEEL… What do you feel in your body at this moment?
For example…
I see… the tree limb outside my window
I wonder… how old the tree is
I feel… unsure behind my eyes
I see… my coffee cup
I wonder… what’s the best way to clean the ring around the inside of the coffee cup. (Hey, it doesn’t have to be profound.)
I feel… peaceful in my chest.
The beauty of this exercise is that it will return you to YOU.
To your truth at this moment.
Why don’t you give it a shot? It’s so simple – but it works.
Great to do before a meeting, an audition, and first thing in the morning.
My suggestion…
Do three rounds of this before checking any social media.
Why?
Because ya don’t wanna lose YOU while you go poking around in there.
I’m going to experiment with this for a week and see if I want to keep going with it.
You game?
If so – let me know how it goes for you at:

Wishing you a tremendous new year. I do feel very optimistic about this time, and trust it will be a great year for us all.
