What is the Character Lab Weekend Intensive?

The weekend will be a deep dive into radically expanding your artistic threshold, unearthing parts of yourself that are ready to create, and tapping into your unique virtuosity.

This full immersion into creating a character will delve into the Inner Atomics in a way that is not offered anywhere else.

The Inner Atomics are tools created by founder Josh Pais,
and are only taught in Committed Impulse. 

Inner Atomics encompass the cornerstones of all human behavior. These tools can be applied to any text in any medium. For non-actors, these tools are used to access dormant parts that, when accessed, have the potential to radically shift your business and how you operate in the world. The Inner Atomics will free you, open you, expand you. Paradoxically, these tools will make your work effortless and at the same time challenge you. 

It is within this challenge that your best work is going to emerge.

Next, you’re going to rummage through the imagery that lives below your surface as you employ the potent tools of Subpersonalities. The Subpersonality work gains you access to parts of yourself that often lay dormant. These dormant parts are burgeoning with creative force. They are ready to come to light and take your work to the next level.

The result of this mix of delving into the Inner Atomics combined with the Subpersonality work is going to train you to create free from your judgmental thoughts - and allow your true essence to take over. That is what your audience craves.

Why Character Lab?

Casting directors are often frustrated because they see tape after tape of actors trying to appear naturalistic. In reality, casting directors want to see actors making honest, strong, committed choices.

This weekend is going to give you a new set of tools so that YOU can be empowered to make those strong, committed, nuanced choices. Choices that are engaging to behold because they reveal your truth - and fulfill the obligations of the script.

Side note: Character Lab has launched MANY actors into the next levels of their careers because it has given them the tools to fully inhabit a character.

Character Lab was a really incredible weekend - I am still riding the high from it.   

I wanted to share what I took away from the weekend: 

Daily life is increasingly training us to leave our bodies and the present moment, so any training that can counteract that is imperative. 

The exercises helped me slow down my inner tempo/racing thoughts to tap into a state of blissful presence (which I’ve sought to access through meditation retreats) and a deeper sense of my heart and soul. 

I can’t remember the last time I really had fun playing and creating characters. I truly experienced being able to approach a character and scene with a sense of wonder, welcoming the unknown, letting go of my mind and trusting my body and impulses. Learning I can harness nerves and what’s really going on instead of thinking I need to be fully “relaxed” is also a shift. 

It was a joy to watch others light up, create unique, eccentric and wild characters and become more vividly alive and noticeably more present in the process - even those who thought they were not actors! 

The act of really connecting to and tuning in to my body (with permission to really breathe and feel what was locked away) liberated me and I honestly left the workshop feeling at least 485 pounds lighter. 

Just a side note: Something has definitely shifted in my energy as well, as strangers have been striking up conversations and my taxi driver insisted on taking a selfie with me because he thinks I’m famous!

You may cancel your enrollment up to 10 days before the start of the course and receive a full refund. If you cancel less than 10 days prior to the commencement of the course, you will NOT receive a refund, but you will get a full credit that you can apply toward another class, workshop, private coaching, or the online program within the next 12 months.
