One thing has become clearer and clearer to me as a result of being an actor and a teacher…
It’s about the essential element that must be in every scene.
This is essential info for every actor, as well as for every artist or entrepreneur.
Coffee!
No, that’s not what I was going to say. But…
I’m back.
Here we go…
Audiences want to experience the actual chemistry between the two (or more) actors as they work together.
Not their imagined chemistry – their ACTUAL CHEMISTRY.
Here’s what I meant by that.
Put any two people together in a room, or a field, wherever…
Put two people in proximity of one another – and physical sensations start flowing.
Now, most people have spent a great deal of energy preventing the experience of this spontaneous flow of energy, because from the mind’s point of view it feels like we’re out of control.
But it is exactly this information that carries your genius.
Maintaining a connection to the ever flowing set of sensations opens the creative channel. Shut down those sensations – you shut down the creative channel.
When two actors are connected to this information the scene dynamically comes to life.
Without this energetic connection an audience will get bored.
Who wants to watch two people pretending to experience one another, as opposed to actually experiencing one another.
People are hungry for real human chemistry – and it is always available. It’s always there.
HOW DOES THIS APPLY TO NON-ACTORS?
If you public speak (or want to), coach, interact with people in your work, put your ass on the line in any way – then you are working with other human creatures. And if you are not open to the actual energetic communication – then you are leaving money on the table. Too crude? Well, you are certainly not generating trust and inspiration, and that is essential for any business.
That’s my Impulse Nugget.
Take it or leave it.
But…
Take it.
