I’ve been pondering why so many people send emails to me after they’ve registered for one of our Committed Impulse acting classes expressing their fear about starting the class.
It’s always been that way. Why is that?
Maybe because learning a new way of doing things is scary.
Especially if it requires bringing more of yourself to the work. To the public. To your audience.
Putting our ass on the line can seem terrifying – until…
We discover how joyous it can be!
This week, let’s go inside a few minutes of last week’s Advanced Master Class on Zoom. I am so proud of everyone’s work in class – and how simply doing CI – is radically expanding their careers. Keep an eye out for these folks.
In the below video clip, you can see our discussion around the question…
How Do You Create Luck?
And, out of that discussion, Committed Impulser Daniella Rabbani reveals how she pushed through her fear. You’ll hear how she pushed through it and then used the elements of CI to make a self-tape that booked her an HBO mini-series with Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac (she’ll be playing his wife). Plus you can watch the very self-tape that booked her the job. You’re also going to see how supportive the CI community is as we all move towards greater success – even when it’s scary.
Check out Daniella and the Advanced Master Class crew…
How to make a self-tape.
We’ve been exploring setting more of a scene while making self-tapes, as opposed to doing the scene in front of a neutral background. Now, a lot of people say not to do that. But, we’ve been exploring making the self tape a full expression of the art. This means taking into account the full visual palette of the tape you send in. See what’s right for you. But certainly, if casting requests a neutral background – honor that.
In Daniella’s case – she went ahead and made a baby – to make her self tape. And her baby got the gig too! Whatever it takes, people!
We love chatting with you.
