As I sit in my apartment that has not had power in 4 days, I reflect.
Word is power is coming on tonight… or tomorrow night. Or…
Yes there has been inconvenience.
And some people have had devastating loss. My heart goes out to them, and I am here to help in any way I can.
But for right now I want to say this…
I have seen a beauty that happens when an event occurs that levels the playing field.
No matter who has what, who has accomplished what…
We are all in this together.
And the result… Community.
A coffee shop down the street has a generator, and is selling coffee and giving away bread & butter, and free power to charge up your device.
I have seen friends every night for candle lit dinners – where no one checks their cell phone – because no one has internet.
The result – getting to know each other even more than we already did.
And, how easy it is to get together with limited communication.
None of that… “Well, I might be able to make it, but…”
Dinner at 7:30 at Bill and Juan’s house. Everyone arrives on time.
After dinner last night, Stu Blumberg said, “This is the most present I have been at a social gathering in months.”
Wars will end once the tools of presence become common place. Soldiers will look at the weapons in their hands, and the people they are aimed at and STOP. They will put down their arms, and see what is true in THIS MOMENT:
We are all on this planet together, in this brief span of time.
Our minds love hierarchy, holding onto old stories, and perpetuating drama and conflict.
But there are other options.
Thanks for reading.
PS. If you haven’t heard the 4 access points to being present, it’s my gift to peace and to you. Tell your friends to listen. Let’s do this.

Thanks for this! Sending good vibes your way. Hope you get power back soon 🙂
So much love going through the space and hearts!
Audrey Hepburn said that all we need is health and a short memory…
Damn, is this true!
Much love from here,

left Thurs and returned to the EV tonight.
met a friend returned from Philly where she was helping get out the vote there. met another friend returning from helping folks in the Far Rockaways all day.
SO awesome, Josh! Not that you’ve been without power for the past several days, but that you’ve had this great connection with friends. I noticed it too: No one checking cell phones while being with others. Everyone was just BEING with each other. And the energy in the moment was electric because we were all THERE, connecting with each other. Really amazing. Hope you’re doing well.
Exactly. Hopefully we can learn to start doing this without a major storm.
Maybe we should all set up a phone collecting bowl when we get together with friends.
