We all have to put our asses on the line in order to expand and grow as artists, entrepreneurs, and human beings.
And if you’re not putting your ass on the line from time to time, you’ll go stale.
Most of us don’t want to put our asses on the line because we haven’t learned how to tolerate uncomfortableness.
Many of us would rather stay in a rut if it means we don’t have to feel the intensity that comes from stepping into the unknown.
But in order to access our potential, we have to step outside our comfort zones.
Here’s what you can count on when you put your ass on the line.
You will experience an increase in body sensations. ( nervous, anxious, elation, etc.)
And for most of us that is enough to stop us.
Not you, however.
The Committed Impulse training teaches us to welcome whatever body sensations are current. Body sensations are not bad. They’re great.
A little practice is all it takes.
It’s essential to your success that you train yourself to increase your tolerance for the full spectrum of YOU.
Once you can tolerate and create with whatever you feel, you become invincible.
By invincible I mean, that no matter what you feel – you will not shrink and you will not go into your self defeating thoughts. You will stand tall while your body has sensation and you will shine.
Start by welcoming sensation throughout the day. You don’t have to feel more than what is there.
Explore being intimate with the sensations that you tend to avoid experiencing.
Breathe a little deeper. It’s all good.
So…
Stay with the pure sensations as you step into the light.
IMPORTANT: No dramatizing or analyzing what you feel. Just feel it.
Next thing ya know…
Putting your ass on the line becomes an adventure. Not something you have to back away from.
See you in class.

I’m curious, what sensation stops you from putting your ass on the line?
Are you willing to commit to moving forward regardless of what you feel?

Thank you for this post Josh! My ass is on the line right now and the sensations are like fireworks on the 4th of July. Feeling and putting my attention on the excitement rather than the fear.

Thank you for this info. I am going to try to sit with my feelings more because they have had a tendency before to run my life or make me want to run away.
Leah says
For me, it’s the sensation of extreme anxiousness!

Thank you for this post, Josh! I remember being on a call I listened to talking about the Committed Impulse and yesterday at an audition, your voice popped into my head. I was able to walk into the audition with all I was feeling and whereas in the past I would’ve been beating myself up for not being as “relaxed” as I could’ve been, instead I was rejoicing and (finally) accepting the nerves and sensations in my body and allowing them to propel me into the read. So thank you.
Light and blessings to you*

Good question. I will watch out for it. I actually don’t know what the pysical sensations are. Challenging to narrow it down to tangible sensations vs. story. Hmmm.
Rumana says
The feeling that stops me the is tightness of chest that comes from the fear or being wrong, of being exposed as a freak and a fool. I’d love to not judge myself, but I can’t seem to remember that in the moment! How do you do that?
Stephen says
Maybe not your yield ⚠️ issue.
I routinely ask myself, when deeply challenged… “am I fearful of failure, or success or both !
Often i choose the most likely… oh and I don’t look back , for analysis 💝

Hey Josh,
Great post. I’ve been introduced to this kind of work via a wide variety of strands. I’m excited to take a class with you one day. Tell us, what avenues did you travel to get to Committed Impulse? I’d love to know!
Peace!
