In our upcoming Character Lab, we’re going to dive deep into Sub-Personality work. It’s an in-depth process that involves a little meditation, a lot of imagination, and a desire to connect with who you really are on multiple levels. An amazing tool to create a character.
In the upcoming Advanced Master class, we will use Sub-Personality work in a different way. This way involves chatting with a wise being that lives within us. We all have a wise woman or man (I may have a monkey) living within.
I recently asked my inner wise-pants, “What do I need to know right now?”
Here is what came blurting out.
For the next month live in one of these three modes:
RESTORE
TRAIN
PLAY
I’ve been exploring this.
It has saved me from wasting time.
Plus I tend to skip over the necessary art form (if you will) of RESTORING.
But when I allow for it – even if it is a few minutes here and there – my life and creativity are enhanced
Here are my beginning ideas on what these three categories, Restore+Train+Play can include.
RESTORE
Watching a movie
Walking
Meditating
Showering
Eating
Having some wine
Guilt-free doing nothing
TRAIN
Physical training
Calling my agents
Reaching out to directors I have worked with
Learning lines
Prepping for Committed Impulse classes
Working on set
PLAY
Puzzling with Marie
Hanging out with my son and his partner
Seeing friends that are in my pod
Cooking
Drumming
Sex
Dancing around the house
Working on set
Chasing Kuma while screaming like a mad man, “Get that dog!!”
So, now it’s your turn.
In the comments below add some of your entries
How do you like to play, train, and restore?
I challenge you to create a list of your own below.
Include a few (or more) entries for Restore, Train, and Play.
THEN…
Once we have a nice list I will make a master list with all of what we come up with as a little guide – from the guide.
Let’s play!

Founder, Committed Impulse
Fiorella says
Just what I needed to read … since I used to procrastinate too much, I wasn’t allowing me to do activities like watching a movie to restore. I felt guilty. Only what could “be helpful” like meditation or reading a book was worth … Now I will give myself permission to turn on Netflix more often, thank you.
Josh Pais says
YES! Relish in it! Let us know how much you let yourself enjoy it!
