My Dream Blog

As I sit in my apartment that has not had power in 4 days, I reflect.

Word is power is coming on tonight… or tomorrow night. Or…

Yes there has been inconvenience.

And some people have had devastating loss. My heart goes out to them, and I am here to help in any way I can.

But for right now I want to say this…

I have seen a beauty that happens when an event occurs that levels the playing field.

No matter who has what, who has accomplished what…

We are all in this together.

Equals.

And the result… Community.

A coffee shop down the street has a generator, and is selling coffee and giving away bread & butter, and free power to charge up your device.

I have seen friends every night for candle lit dinners – where no one checks their cell phone  – because no one has internet.

The result – getting to know each other even more than we already did.

And, how easy it is to get together with limited communication.

None of that… “Well, I might be able to make it, but…”

Just…

Dinner at 7:30 at Bill and Juan’s house. Everyone arrives on time.

After dinner last night, Stu Blumberg said, “This is the most present I have been at a social gathering in months.”

MY DREAM:

Wars will end once the tools of presence become common place. Soldiers will look at the weapons in their hands, and the people they are aimed at and STOP. They will put down their arms, and see what is true in THIS MOMENT:

We are all on this planet together, in this brief span of time.

Our minds love hierarchy, holding onto old stories, and perpetuating drama and conflict.

But there are other options.
